I finally have everything I need to get my 74 charger fired up. I am doing all this for the first time :sillyme: ...so I need some advice! I talked to my buddies and I haven't decided what procedure/order I need to go with, basically what is the easiest. Do I....connect engine and tranny together and install it as a whole...or put engine in first and then tranny....or put tranny in first then the engine??? I have three people suggesting the above methods. I also need to consider trans cooler, headers, and trans lines, when to put those in...during what step. If any one has any suggestions that would be wonderful..

I would put the engine and tranny in together as one unit. You'll need to get the front of the car up on jack stands. It would probably be a good idea to have the tranny lines in place before setting the motor in. Just be careful not to crush or bend them up when you set the motor in. You'll probably have to set the headers in the engine compartment and tie them up as far to the sides as you can, then set the motor in between them. The trans cooler can be put in any time.

I agree with the above. What size engine are you running? Small or big block? If it is a small block, do the drivers side header before the engine goes in for sure.

I am putting in a 360. I can't wait to get it going!

Shiney and clean! Why can't mine ever look like that?
