You can definitly tell who the sponsers are in that article. Cool concept, but I wonder how much all the batteries and electric motor hurts the track performance with the added weight.

Looks pretty neat. I wonder also about the performance tradeoff.

Neat, but what does it cost?

The performance solely on gas is sure to suffer. But remember, they can run both gas and electric at the same time! An electric motor is pure torque from 1 rpm to 8000 rpm.
The cost, I imagine, for this car is sure to bee rather high. The goal is to spark interest in the technology and once sales of an improved "system" increases the cost will decrease dramatically! How much was "the brick" cell phone 15 years ago?
Just my 2 cents.

With what they used as batteries, I agree. If they would have spent a little more money, they could have used the same Lithium-ion batteries that the Tesla uses. They are made by...get ready...FIAT!
The weight reduction generally is about 60% or more in some cases.
JCI (Johnson Controls) is currently working on a battery technology that does not use Lithium and could be a HUGE break through if it works out for them.

With entry level hybrids starting at $20k, and a Challenger R/T starting at $30k, and a Tesla roadster starting at $101.5k, what would a hybrid Challenger cost?

Most cars that have a gas and hybrid option cost about 6-8 grand more for the hybrid option. The Tesla has a fair amount of items on it that the major manufacturers don't use.
